The Parliament of Montenegro is a unicameral parliament and has 81 MPs. The primary duty of MPs in a representative democracy is to represent the citizens, their views and interests. That is why one of the basic functions of the Assembly is to legislate in accordance with the interests and needs of citizens. Current, 26 convocation of the Parliament of Montenegro began its work on session 7th November 2016. The current president of the Parliament is Ivan Brajovic.
The Parliament works in regular and extraordinary sessions. The regular session is held twice a year, in accordance with the Constitution of Montenegro. Extraordinary session shall be convened at the request of at least one third of the total number of MPs, the President of Montenegro and the Prime Minister.
