Protector of Human Rights and Freedoms of Montenegro is an independent and self-governing institution whose task is to take measures for the protection of human rights and freedoms when violated by a law, an act or omission of state bodies, state administration bodies, local self-government bodies and local government, public services and other holders of public authority as well as measures to prevent torture and other forms of cruel or degrading treatment and punishment and measures to protect against discrimination.
