The House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH has 15 delegates, two thirds of whom are from the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (five Bosniak and five Croat delegates) and one third comes from Republic of Srpska (five Serb delegates).
The nominated Bosniak and Croat delegates from the Federation of BiH are elected by Bosniak and Croat delegates respectively in the House of Peoples of the Federation of BiH, while the delegates from the Republic of Srpska are elected by the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska. The House of Peoples works in line with the BiH Constitution, the law and the Rules of Procedure of the House.
The House of Representatives comprises of 42 members, two thirds of which are directly elected from the territory of the Federation of BiH and one third from the territory of the Republic of Srpska. The majority of all members elected in the House of Representatives constitutes a quorum. The House of Representatives is working in line with the BiH Constitution, the laws and the Rules of Procedure of the House of Representatives.
The current convocation in both houses was formed for period from 2018 to 2022. The current president of the House of People of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Dragan Covic and current president of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina is Denis Zvizdic.
The Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina enacts laws, approves the budget, and makes decisions on the sources and the amount of revenue needed for financing the institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its international obligations. The Parliamentary Assembly confirms the appointment of the Chair and Members of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Council of Ministers, grants consent to ratification of international treaties and decides on other issues that are necessary to exercise its own responsibilities or those assigned to it by an agreement between entities.
The Houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina perform legislative, informative and oversight activities and regulate internal structure and their own modus operandi.
